When I was discussing the details of the Roberts Family session at their lake house & log cabin in the North Carolina mountains, I heard “well Lisa, I am afraid with all the kids it is going to be more like herding cats than getting everyone together for a group shot”. I laughed and and replied “no worries, we will have fun!”. This is not my first time working with the Roberts and their extended family, and I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone over the years and see kids grow up as well. Dr. Roberts and his son-in-law Dr. Bruner joined together recently to open Plastic Surgery Center of the Carolinas in Spartanburg and the office is absolutely amazing! Dr. Roberts has been a plastic surgeon in Spartanburg for many years and is recognized around the globe for his work. I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Roberts & Dr. Bruner on a professional level as well, doing many of their website, staff and office photos and working with New Beauty Magazine on a couple of occasions.
I truly look forward to seeing everyone and having an opportunity to “herd cats”…actually the kids did quite well despite the crazy heat and commotion of getting so many people together for pictures
Designing guest books with the engagement photos and the wedding album are always so much fun and the ultimate way to deliver a finished product for my clients that have recently gotten married. The same goes for portrait albums for sessions with families and children. Here are a couple I recently created for a family session I did in Colorado. When you click on the play button a slideshow will start. You will view a full spread which means that is how the book would look if opened flat.
These are a perfect way to get several images from your session in a beautiful keepsake.

Congratulations Heather! We are all so very proud of you
The Hewes family welcomed little Josephine Jolie on March 04,2010 and she is a beauty!! I have had the pleasure of taking pictures of the Hewes girls since they were little and now I get to add one more to the mix and could not be more excited Ron and Jami call baby Josephine by JoJo which is so cute.
Here are just a few from our session:
Spring has arrived here in South Carolina, especially at Falls Park. There are so many beautiful flowers blooming and the colors are rich and full of variety. Another sunny day for a family session, which is wonderful after all the rain days we have had. Time to go out and play, laugh and make silly faces. Anyone that has ever worked with me knows that I always have to get the cute kissing shots – and it is such a treat when you get the funny faces from the little ones when they see a ‘mommy-daddy kiss’. HA. When I saw Savannah’s hat I smiled big because I LOVE hats and taking pictures of people in them Savannah looked so darned cute in hers and was ready to have her solo shoot.
Please enjoy a few images and the slideshow just below them.
It has been about 2 1/2 years since I have seen Bobby, Francesca and Jack and it was so awesome to get caught up, share some laughs and dinner together and do another family session for them. Jack has grown so much since I have seen him last and he was full of all kinds of stories to tell me. Jack and his mom have a new hobby that they share together and that is going to the antique store. I asked Jack what his favorite thing to collect was and it is vintage G.I. Joe’s. He knows ALL about them and gets excited talking about each one and how you can tell if they are authentic or not. His other favorite things are the vintage Matchbox cars and planes. Even I thought they were all pretty cool!
Francesca had a wonderful idea to incorporate the antique store into their family session, which I thought was a great idea! Jack showed me his favorite booths and even talked mom and dad into getting a new G.I. Joe After the antique store, we headed out to a park and took advantage of the soft beautiful Colorado sunlight just before the sun went down.
Jack and his dad love to watch “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” and even do the hand movements that Bobby does on his show. It was the cutest thing to watch the two of them show me while saying, “I may win, I may lose, It’s the Ultimate Throwdown!”.
I had an amazing time with all of you and cannot WAIT to see you again. Enjoy the photos and slideshow.
This would be the first time I have ever met little Lucy because it has been about 15 years since I saw Laura. On my next trip to Denver I hope to meet the rest of her children and get the whole family together for a session, but this one was just for Mommy and Lucy. Lucy was ready to go out and have some fun and before I could ask her to take off her shoes so that I could get those little toes in the photos, she sat down and said “I want to take my shoes off”. Perfect. We met at the beautiful St. Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder and then walked to a nearby park. Lucy was full of endless energy and giggles At the end of our session, Lucy mentioned that she wanted to pick a flower. We walked back to St. Julian and it was all Lucy could do to JUST sniff the flowers and not pick. “Why can’t I pick them?” she asked.
When we went inside I found some amazing light by the windows and wanted to finish off with a few photos inside St. Julian. Well, what do we see? More flowers right there on the table that we were taking photos next to. So I decided to get one of them out of the vase and let her hold it. The photos of her sniffing the flower was priceless!! Her crinkled up nose made me laugh.
Thank you Laura & Lucy for allowing me to capture a few special moments between you two. I hope to see you all again real soon! I miss Colorado already.
Once again Lisa, you’ve managed to seize the moment for the precious mother and daughter. Well done!

Lisa, fabulous photos of Lucy and Laura! You are sooooo talented. Next time you’re in Colorado, give us a holler and we’ll have the Chafins over too for a little get-together. It’s been way too long!
After living in Colorado for a total of 9 years, I feel like it is a second home and one that I miss very much. The Moore’s are moving to Austin, Texas really soon and it was an honor to be able to capture their family in the setting that they love the most, the mountains. Rick has been a long time friend that I knew when I was in the corporate world and this was the first time I have seen him in over 15 years! This was also the first time that I got to meet his awesome wife Diana and their three beautiful children, Grant, Will and Reagan. Their children simply melted my heart with their big blue eyes, smiles and abundant energy!! It was really windy out which made it rather chilly, but everyone was up for the challenge.
We met at Estes Park and went to some of their favorite locations. One spot was very important as Rick kept telling Diana that he had to have Longs Peak in the background of a family photo…it was a must No pressure on the photographer right?
I wish I had the entire day to spend with the Moore’s to play and take photos at various locations, there is just not a bad spot out there!
Please enjoy a few of the posted images and a slideshow highlighting the session.
Thank you for stopping by!

Beautiful!!! Diana and Rick and kids look so great!
Picking just the right location for promo shoots is part of the fun. After listening to a few of Matt’s songs, and talking with him a bit we decided on a location and set a date to do the shoot. Thank goodness my ‘good weather dance’ worked as we had comfortable temps and big puffy clouds which make for dramatic backdrops. Matt probably had no idea that we would climb walls, walk over piles of junk, hang on bridges and climb fences, but he did all of it with a smile. Oh and of course a few laughs as I jumped right into a huge fire ant hill! I managed to compose myself as I slapped my legs silly until they biting bugs were off me. Thanks Matt for making the day super fun!
Working with other artists always pushes me to try something fun and new. Sunny Ledfurd’s manager contacted me to do a shoot for his latest promotions and images for his new website and I was thrilled. We decided to meet at a bar & grill in North Carolina that Sunny frequents which turned out to be a fantastic location. The people in the background look like we planned them to be there, but they just really fit for the shoot!
