Brandon & Melissa met at the Spinx Half Marathon finish line. How awesome is that? After a great sense of accomplishment and a bit of fatigue, two people met with a warm smile…I think that is pretty near perfect. Brandon & Melissa are so much fun to be around. They both have great smiles, laugh often and are just relaxed in each others’ company. When we met for our initial consultation, I remember thinking how great it was that Brandon was very much involved in the wedding planning process. I am more than excited to work with this dynamic couple and cannot wait until their wedding day. Here are a small handful of images from the super fun e-session and the slideshow to follow.

  • These pics are great! Emma Kate was looking at them with me and when we got to one where you all were kissing, she said, “Bannon kissing Missa. I wike it!”

Contagious & beautiful. That is how I would describe the smiles that Andrew & Laura Anne have. When I read through their answers on the Get To Know You Questionnaire, I noticed that they both put down that they like each others sense of humor, loved being silly and are easy going. The answers were so right because the laughs we had during the shoot were many and we all had goofy moments. Andrew had us laughing with some of his funny expressions. Those that have done shoots with me before know that I sometimes I have odd ways of describing how I want them to be or pose because I get so wrapped up in what I am doing…well, the big joke of the day came after I got tongue tied telling them how I wanted them to embrace. I said just ”cup his face with your hands” or something silly like that and the two of them just ran with it. In the slideshow you will see them on the railroad tracks making fun by cupping their hands. Too funny!!

The engagement shoot was in historic downtown Norcross, Georgia which is absolutely beautiful. We were unaware that there was a car show that day and thought it may interfere, but in fact it added to the fun of the day. I had the best time eating lunch with Andrew & Laura Anne before we started because it gave us time to just ‘hang out’ a bit.

Please enjoy a handful of images and below them a slideshow. Thank you Andrew & Laura Anne for such a fun day…I had a blast!

When Breun called me to let me know of her engagement and that she wanted me to be her photographer, I was thrilled! Then I heard her mention the date and I was bummed…I had to tell her that I was booked for her wedding day. But then I was thrilled again when we decided I would still do her engagement and bridal sessions. Last week I drove to the Latta Plantation in North Carolina which was our first meeting point for the shoot. The plantation was beautiful and while we had to work around a group of kids on a field trip, we had the grounds to ourselves. Then we drove to Denver, NC where Jeremy lives to do more pictures at the lake and with his beautifully restored bright red Ford pickup. The dark clouds worried us a little, but they worked with us and in fact made for some beautiful backdrops! Since Jeremy proposed next to a fire pit, we HAD to take some pictures next to theirs :) These two have such fun together and the laughs are abundant.

Please enjoy a handful of images and below that a slideshow highlighting our super fun day! Congratulations Jeremy & Breun on your recent engagement.

Dale & Lauren’s engagement shoot was one that was scheduled and rescheduled multiple times either due to weather or some of Dale’s traveling for work. The day finally came and what a gorgeous day in Atlanta it was!! The flowers were blooming, the sun was out and it wasn’t too hot. Time to pick out a few outfits and go have some fun. The great thing is that Dale & Lauren were up for anything. By the time we finished, we had such an amazing mix of photos ranging from natural settings with grass, trees and flowers all the way to tall buildings with reflective glass. I must add that this couple has the most amazing smiles together :)

Please enjoy a few images and the slideshow posted just below them. The show may take a moment to load, so be patient.

  • I may be a little bias because Dale and Lauren are two of my best friends, and I am Lauren’s maid of honor but, these are the BEST pictures! You were able to capture the spirit of Lauren and Dale and let everyone see how cute they are together! The pictures with the buildings in the background are AMAZING! Great job, i can’t wait to meet you at the wedding!

Spring in Colorado can be full of fickle weather. One morning it can snow and then by the afternoon it is sunny and warm. I crossed my fingers for good weather for the few days I was in the Denver area for various shoots. Well thank goodness the finger crossing worked. The days were incredibly beautiful with warmer temperatures. Just as soon as I got back to South Carolina, Jane text me to let me know that it was cold and snowing again…wonderful and perfect timing! Whew.
Brian and Jane wanted to have an engagement session in Colorado at some of their favorite spots since the wedding will be in New Orleans. We started the day off at the Denver Botanical Gardens and then headed out to Red Rocks. We originally had it planned to go to 4 locations, however each location had so many amazing places within itself that we had a very full day going to two. When Jane asked if they could bring their dogs Koda and Kiska, I said “ABSOLUTELY”. So, on our way to Red Rocks we stopped by their house to pick up Koda & Kiska and a change of clothes.
The first location at Red Rocks had a perfectly shaped rock for an awesome background, BUT there were signs saying the area was closed due to rattlesnakes. Brian tried to convince both Jane and I that they weren’t out this time of year, even though we saw a skin of what looked like a very large rattler! Yikes. I had such a great time with you two and I cannot wait for the wedding in New Orleans :)
Please enjoy a handful of images and just below them, a slideshow highlighting the day.

The sun was up but the temperatures were down. In fact, it was down-right cold! We had to stop occasionally to warm cold noses and hands, but Ervin & Katie were troopers toughing out the cold morning. The good thing is that we moved around a lot and even ran a little which warmed us up. Katie wanted to have a country setting for her session and having a barn would be an added bonus. The location was perfect for their day. Katie was smiling and laughing so much and her beautiful smile was captured in many of the photos. Ervin was full of ideas and suggestions and really was so much fun to work with. I even joked and asked if he wanted to assist me on other shoots!

Below are a few images from the session followed by the slideshow. Enjoy.

We were bound to have a blast after having to reschedule Chris & Katie’s engagement session 5 times!  Crazy South Carolina weather has made for some frustrating photo shoot schedules this winter, but this day could not have been better.  Fluffy clouds, beautiful sun and warmer temperatures, but most of all just a lot of laughs – a perfect day.  We started at Katie’s home, then headed to Anderson University and then proceeded to downtown Anderson.  We could have played downtown for a long time as the location choices were endless!

I am sharing a few photos and the slideshow.  Enjoy!

One good thing about having an engagement session at Clemson just a few days before Christmas is that we were able to have the campus all to ourselves. The morning started out rather chilly, but we started moving fast to get the blood flowing. Adam & Amanda showed up with Monster Energy drinks in hand and big smiles. Our first stop was the stadium. I was NOT used to seeing the stadium without all those orange chairs, but being that the football season is now over the chairs have been put away. The sun was both challenging and fun to work as it stayed at an angle most of the time we were out shooting. A couple of times I was bound and determined to shoot into the sun and saw blue dots for awhile!
Adam & Amanda are such an amazing couple with super fun energy. I found them laughing, sharing stories and sneaking a few kisses in between our shots. You may notice that there are several photos of the two of them on the ACC initials in the stadium. That is because after they get married their initials will be ACC, so we had fun playing with that a bit.
After shooting at Clemson we headed to Adam & Amanda’s new home to meet up with their sweet dogs, Scoobie & Banjo. My favorite photo is of Amanda howling with one of them while Adam and the other are watching and smiling. The day was so much fun and I cannot wait to see Amanda again for her bridal session. Enjoy the slideshow just below the posted images.

Merry Christmas everyone. The holidays are a special time of the year and they hold so many different meanings for all of us, but the one common thing we all share is the love for our families and friends….a time to get together and celebrate. Another year has come and gone so very fast and what an amazing year it has been with so much to be thankful for. My children, who keep me running around like crazy, smiling, laughing, saying “you have one more warning…” and most importantly, wanting to be a better person with each passing day. My family that supports me and loves me on my good, bad and crazy days. My friends that still ask me to get together even though this last year I have not been the best at making time to get together due to crazy schedules, but I promise to do much better because I really do need all of you. My clients…without all of you, my job as a photographer would not be possible. Honestly, I adore my clients SO much that I really consider all to be friends :) THANK YOU to each and every one!!

Today has been so much fun. I am a bit sleep deprived, full of great food, and finding myself hearing “you’ll shoot your eye out…you’ll shoot your eye out..” in my head as we have all watched “A Christmas Story” about 8 times, but so happy to spend the day with my family.

I am looking forward to 2010, my mind is buzzing with ideas for Lisa Carpenter Photography. I am looking forward to meeting many new clients and seeing familiar faces as well. All the best to you and yours.

Marathon engagement sessions seem to be the norm for me lately and I love doing them.  What a great way to get to know my bride & groom better and get some great photos of them having a blast.  William & Stephanie are proud graduates of Clemson and so it was only natural for them to want to have pictures taken on campus.  It was Homecoming Weekend 2009 and the floats were being decorated the day of the session which made for great photos, although most of them were still in the early stages of decoration.  We were all treated to an amazing tour of the football stadium and even managed to hold a Clemson pumpkin for a couple of shots.  Once we finished with our campus photos, we headed out to Stephanie’s family lake house and was welcomed by Greer’s wagging tail.  Greer is their beautiful dog and little did he know that he was going to be posing for a few pics as well :)

It turned out to be a fabulous day and I am excited to share some images from William & Stephanie’s e-session.  Below you will find a handful of photos followed by the slideshow.  The gallery hosts all the images and can be accessed through the slideshow shopping cart or by clicking on this link.
