I am taking a quick survey about what you like most when hiring a photographer (hopefully me :) ).  Here are the choices:  Full Custom Session – includes a full session, online slideshow set to music, password protected ordering gallery, suggestions on products and prints and even how to display them!!!! Then they are beautifully packaged and hand delivered to you.  A Full Digital Session is the same as the Custom session except that you receive a disc of your images presented in a gorgeous leather case.  Then you print and share images at your discretion.  Then I left an area for you to choose Other should you have a different idea than posted.  You do not need to be local to participate in the poll.  I am so anxious to hear from you :)

THANKS! ~lisa

It is hard to believe Christmas 2007 is already behind us!  Time seems to fly by faster and faster.  I hope each and every one of you enjoyed time with friends and family and some GREAT food.  As we now approach New Year’s Eve I imagine there are a few of us thinking about some sort of a resolution for 2008.  Listing our goals is quite easy, it is achieving them that can be difficult.  Goals might range anywhere from dropping 10 pounds, getting in contact with an old friend, taking a new career path or even running a half marathon.  One thing I am learning as I get older is that you really can accomplish whatever you put your mind to.  It is really about your mindset and attitude!!! Ok…remind me that I said this when I hit a ‘bump in the road’.

Ani_thinkingcap So…put on your thinking cap and list those goals that truly mean something to YOU.  (I am speaking to myself as well here. haha) Go for something you have always wanted to do.  Make the goals attainable and try to not list too many.  I love this quote by Mark Twain:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream.  Discover."

Merry Christmas everyone…enjoy a beautiful video clip of an all time favorite movie!

YOU BET!!!!!!  This is what photography is about.  I LOOOOVVVVEEE this video.  To think images taken years ago, can still be so very powerful!  Sarah, my dear sister, I wish I was with you in Morocco, North Africa.  I would love to document all the hard work you are doing out there!  I am thinking of you and while you are riding the camels in the sand dunes, remember next time to take your sister with you to document your journey. haha.

Remember To Laugh!

12-21-2007

Here we are just a few days away from Christmas and stress can run pretty high at this time of year.  Everyone is rushing to get last minute shopping in, mail the remaining holiday cards or travel to be with friends and family.  In the last three days I have seen multiple fender benders and heard numerous honking horns.  When the stress mounds simply laugh and you will quickly find that you feel better and can even forget what you were stressed about.  Laughing is also a GREAT way to produce GREAT pictures!  Remember this on Christmas morning when you are snapping away and capturing the moments.  When it comes to taking pictures, laughing can be one of your most creative tools and is often not thought of when trying to capture that perfect shot of your little one(s).  Why laugh?  Because…it SHOULD be fun!

Untitled1

Here is an example.  I was trying to get my two to ‘pose’ as I wanted them to look.  My youngest had the giggles bad and that is when I remembered what it is I always tell everyone – let them be themselves.  And here is what I got, a great picture that captured who THEY are :)

Just a quick video to make you giggle.

The words at the start of the video is Swedish for "can you have any more fun?" Enjoy your evening and spend time relaxing with your loved ones.

I often hear that it is nice to put a face with the name or the voice over the phone when I finally get to meet a new client.  So, I thought that it would be good to take a photo of myself and put it up on the main entry into my website.  I do have one photo of me and my two wonderful boys on the contact me page, but sometimes that one is missed.  Or this one of me and my youngest <= .  My first thought was "I do NOT like being in front of the camera at ALL!".  My next thought was "It would be a good reminder of how some clients may feel when I am the one behind the camera pointing the lens at them saying just have fun and relax!."   Funny, when it came time for me to do this, I found it quite difficult.  I truly believe this is why I LOVE LOVE LOVE making my clients feel comfortable, confident and happy about having portraits taken because I truly do understand how uncomfortable the process can be.  I know that if I can make my subjects feel comfortable and relaxed, great images will emerge!  So, here goes, some from the Self-Portrait project:

So…I found myself having a hard time not being TOO serious or TOO goofy and here is what came next:

And then the 4 words you will often hear me say "It SHOULD be fun!"

WHEW…I did it and I even shared them :)

Now, on to business.  Don’t forget to sign up for the fun-letter to get the details on the free digital session.  The deadline will be here before you know it!  Try to take some time to relax during these last days before Christmas.

  • Hey Mike…yes it goes between a light brown to a dark blond! haha. A friend took these and I felt so silly having them b/c I do not do so well in FRONT of the lens:)

I know, I just posted a few minutes ago.  But I wanted to share a good quote I found about photography.

"To me, photography is an art of observation.  It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." ~ Elliott Erwitt
