Life As Art

01-30-2008

“Life is pure adventure, and the sooner we realize that, the quicker we will be able to treat life as art.”

~Maya Angelou

That pretty much sums it up :) Speaking of ‘life as art’, I would like to share a few sunsets that STILL soothe my soul.

For those of you who have never had a good scoop of Nutella on multi-grain toast, a bagel, on a banana or simply by the spoonful, you MUST try this stuff! Nutella is a chocolaty hazelnut spread that can be used so many ways and it is yummy :) Sometimes you just have to indulge and let your kids enjoy as well. So, I was amazed to find out that February 5th, 2008 is World Nutella Day. A day to celebrate, have creative fun with, and EAT NUTELLA!!!!

Nutella_day

I saw on a website where baked pears were layered with Nutella and my mouth began to water instantly!

Have a great day!

How SUPER cool are THESE???!!!

Ttbox1_2

These cool hair accessories are fabric-covered pieces of wire that add total pizzazz to your hair whether it is short or long! The company is Trash Ties and their product has been featured in several magazines. Check out their site for fun ideas on how to use them. These would be great to use in a fashion shoot or even better, SENIOR PHOTOS!

Now, try to hold your laughter when I show up with my hair full of Trash Ties on my next photo shoot :)

Back in July of 2007 I was contacted by New Beauty Magazine to work with them on a photo shoot for an upcoming issue. The magazine was featuring the wives of well-known plastic surgeons that are on the cutting edge of technology. The doctor they were featuring is in Spartanburg, SC and we had not yet moved back to the area. SO in a frenzy I decided to come back early while my husband stayed to wait on the movers. My two sons and I set out on a 3 1/2 day journey from Denver to Spartanburg and I made it in time to get refreshed and get to work! I was told that I would be working with Dr. Roberts of Carolina Plastic Surgery. Dr. Roberts has been featured in several publications and is known for staying on top of the latest developments in cosmetic surgery. His wife was a JOY to work with and I featured a few of her photos in a previous post.

Fast forward to December of 2007 and I got the privilege of working with Dr. Roberts again. This time it would be for a much bigger project. He is looking to update his website with new images. I have so many wonderful images to share, but it would take up too much room to share them all on here, but I would like to share just a few. His staff is truly amazing and it is obvious that they enjoy working in such a great environment.

Share Time!

01-21-2008

I LOVE to share products, websites, other blogs and just fun information. I have a few that I would like to share and you might find you enjoy them as well. But before I do, I wanted to share a cute comic -

So, the two topics of interest are GETTING ORGANIZED and CHOCOLATE :) So first the chocolate. I really do love dark, dark chocolate – 65% and higher! It does take some getting used to as it can get quite strong when you get around 70% and up. I like to call it psycho-chocolate! The great thing is that since it is so strong, you really don’t need to eat much to get the chocolate ‘fix’ because your taste buds start to sing. I have mentioned before just how much I LOVE Green & Blacks Organic bars, especially the Espresso one.

Usbarespresso35ozjpg_large_65

However, I have found two others that I would like to share. The mother of all dark chocolate bars at 91% by Theo.

Theobarsgroup

The other are the cacao nibs by Sweetriot Flavor 70. They pack a huge antioxidant punch!!! So here is to our health through chocolate :)

Finally, I would love to share some links about organization. It is on my list of To Do’s this year to get so organized I can’t stand it! I am always looking for ways to declutter and do it in a stylish way. I really like the ORGANIZE magazine. I am a visual learner and I like to see ideas on how to do things. Other links:

If my whole house was like this, I would never again look for keys or an important piece of paper in a panic! haha.

Enjoy!

I have a handful of families that I have worked with since their children were quite small. It is great to see them grow up and document each stage :) What amazes me is how fast time flies..it won’t be long before I am taking senior pictures for these two girls!!!!

Let It Snow!

01-17-2008

I know it was short lived and snowball fights were icy, but the kids had fun!  Was anyone successful in making a good snowman?

I never get tired of hearing “Where did you get that BAG?!” and I hear it often:) This summer we had family pictures taken by Carey Shumacher of Barefoot Memories in San Diego, CA. My favorite picture from the session gets alot of use because I ordered the Nicole bag from Carey and I carry it everywhere I go! This Gina Alexander bag is simply gorgeous and VERY well made. I chose the color of the leather and even chose a fun striped fabric to go inside the bag…a little surprise every time I open it. So, I decided that I just had to offer these bags to my clients and they are finally here. I will be posting examples of different bags as I get them in. Here is a picture of the one I carry and I must admit, it is not the best picture of it, but I wanted to hurry and get it on here so you can see it.

Untitled1

If you have any questions about Gina’s bags, please call me or send me an e-mail. Hey guys…be thinking Valentine’s Day. You will be all the rage if you give one of these to the woman in your life!!! Trust me :)

Have a fun and snow-filled day!

Ok, so this year it won’t be Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail or Aspen, but it will be SUGAR! Sugar Mountain that is :) It is not as big or as high up, but we still got to ski for the day and that was well worth the two and a half hour drive.

Sunrise
On our way up to the mountain. This was taken out of the window of a moving car…but it still shows the sunrise!

Graham is anxiously awaiting and getting impatient :)

We are on the lift!!!

While we were waiting for Graham to get to the bottom, Ethan decided to take a video with the point and shoot camera. I was so surprised at the quality of the video considering it is just a point and shoot. The bummer is that you cannot really tell now that it has been uploaded through YouTube but it is still pretty cool. A bit of warning, an 8 year old with a video camera can make you dizzy!!!!

My video seems to be cut off a bit…I will have to work to get it to fit the screen better next time:)

Thanks for letting me share!

OH….I will be posting some great news about the photo bags you have been inquiring about!!!

A Poll – Part II

01-07-2008

It has been so exciting to see the results of the first poll. Oh, if you haven’t had a chance to participate, you can scroll down and take part :) It is my mission to make your portrait session fun and stress-free; but also EXACTLY what you want. So, by gathering information from you, I can make it fit your wishes. This poll is about purchasing your prints and products. Some of us have a difficult time making decisions and want a little guidance, others want to have full control. So, would you like to have a choice of collections or a price point discount instead? Also, would it make life easier to see a picture showing how your prints would look framed and displayed on a wall? I am anxious to see the answers.
