I am now able to post these gorgeous pictures of my most recent bride as I just shot her wedding this weekend, which was amazing!!! I didn’t want to post the bridal pictures until her fiance’ saw her the day of the wedding. Pictures of her wedding will follow shortly.

I am certain both are enjoying the honeymoon!

  • Lisa! Love the portraits. Can’t wait to see the wedding shots. I didn’t get your card at the reception, so when you post them, can you e-mail me? (A’s sister-in-law). Thx!!

In my efforts to switch everything to my new blog, there are a few things I am working on and will try to have fixed by next post. One of them is the smaller horizontal images and the other is my about me page. Also, if you have noticed there is no spacing in between sentences. My new website will be out in about a week and I CANNOT WAIT to have it go live :)

Thanks for stopping by.

Ivan & Kim

09-26-2008

I had the privilege of working with this beautiful couple on their wedding day. We met several times leading up to the actual wedding day and they began to feel like good friends. The weather was perfect and and the temperature was just right. After the wedding ceremony, we took off by ourselves and went downtown to have some fun. There was a small window of time to get some great shots because the guests were waiting at the reception. The valet guy was great enough to take our cars and pull them off to the side while we took of for a bit. While editing the photos, I couldn’t help but feel that this couple could be published in Vanity Fair!!! Just a beautiful couple with such amazing personalities. Ivan woke up sick the day of the wedding and I must say, he was a trooper!!! Here are just a handful of the day.

Thank you again Ivan & Kim for allowing me to be a part of this special day. I enjoyed your family and friends.

I am so very excited about phase one of my brand new look thanks to Ellen Petty of Identity Kitchen!!! Wow, this has been a long process with a lot of time and emotion invested. Ellen and I can probably look back at times during this process and laugh at the crazy happenings. There was a point when I realized the initial logo was something I couldn’t go with and I pitched a little hissy fit, tears and all. No kidding. Ellen then reassured me that the next go around would be even better and it would be perfect for me. She was right. I have a new appreciation for logo and brand design. What looks to be easy is actually quite difficult to get just right. We tweaked, changed and fussed over little details to get it just right. Since I decided to go for a whole new kind of logo, I found it fitting to change colors as well.
In addition to changing my look, I have opted for a shorter domain and email address. That will not go into effect until my new website goes live. I will have my previous llooooonggg domain forward to my new shorter one which will be www.lisacarpenterphoto.com and my new email will be lisacarpenter@me.com. That is HUGE for me because I would often hear sighs when someone would ask for my website and email information…it took forever to write it all down :) My website should be ready within a week and I cannot wait. We wanted to launch all of them together, but it was becoming difficult when I have two designers in California, one in Australia.
Here is a look at my new business and note cards.

I adore how these turned out! Ellen suggested we do letterpress printed cards and I can only imagine how beautiful these will be once I receive them.
Sorry for the mixture of colors and logos right now. The whole new look should be finished in about a week.
Thank you Ellen and Tea Brennan of LinkArtist Multimedia for all your hard work!!

In my efforts to get my portfolios ready for my new website & blog, I have had to go back and revisit previous photos and get them to my designer. While it is very time consuming, I had no clue how much fun the process would be! I have met so many amazing people over the years and here is only a tiny bit of what I have gone through so far. I best get back at it as I have many more to go through.

Off to look at more! I cannot wait for my ‘new look’ to go live!

I get a call from my little brother today and after we chat for a few minutes he asks “Hey, did you hear THE NEWS?”. Initially I wondered, who is getting married or who is now expecting a baby. But he quickly said “Carlos Zambrano had his first no-hitter last night which was the first in 36 years for the Cubs!!!” Being that my whole family is made up of die-hard Cubs fans, I naturally said “AWESOME!!!”. I wasn’t able to watch the game, so I hadn’t heard the news. Then I was a bit silent and said quietly….”uhm, what’s a no-hitter?”. Here I thought I knew a good bit about baseball right? His response was “Awe Lis’, are you serious?”. I chuckled, a bit embarrassed, and said “Yes, I am serious”. So, my brother explained and once again I said “AWESOME!!!”. Had to be there, but I must say it was funny :) WAY TO GO CARLOS!!!!

This video pretty much sums up the emotion of an incredible night even though it makes you dizzy watching it.

I was in pure heaven at this location. As soon as I arrived at my clients house my mind was working overtime because I was finding so many amazing places to take pictures. Then I met three beautiful, precious and very fun children who were all very excited to have their pictures taken. We told mom that we were going to play and go for a walk down to the sunflower field and off we went. It was both fun and relaxing to hold hands and walk on the quiet country road down to the sunflowers…AND it wasn’t too awfully hot! After our session, I spent some time singing “Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black….”. I believe I had as much fun as they did!! Here are a handful of my favorites, there were so many more, I just can’t post all :)

Thanks for stopping by!

When I get my photo frame templates to work…it won’t look like my name is floating at the bottom of the photos, but I wanted to share in the meantime :)

I had the opportunity to go to David Jay’s Free To Succeed Tour last week in Charlotte and it was amazing! David (DJ) is such a great speaker, has such enthusiasm for wedding photography and is so open to helping other photographers. I learned so much and met some great people. What is even better is that I got the chance to ride to Charlotte with three other local photographers that I can now say are my new friends… Marian Ashley, Jana Candler and Amy Wood. When we got to dinner I met two others and Amanda Eller was one of them. She is the one that took these cool photos in front of the tour bus!!

What a great time and an evening full of very useful information. Thanks DJ!

Also, I must share my love for a new bag made for photographers. GoBee bags are made to hold your memory cards, business cards, phone, and anything else that is small but very much needed. I used this for the first time when I shot a wedding in Chicago last month and it stayed on my hip for 14 hours. Even after all that time, it was super comfortable.

Check them out at GoBee.

Thanks for stopping by.
