It has been about 2 1/2 years since I have seen Bobby, Francesca and Jack and it was so awesome to get caught up, share some laughs and dinner together and do another family session for them. Jack has grown so much since I have seen him last and he was full of all kinds of stories to tell me. Jack and his mom have a new hobby that they share together and that is going to the antique store. I asked Jack what his favorite thing to collect was and it is vintage G.I. Joe’s. He knows ALL about them and gets excited talking about each one and how you can tell if they are authentic or not. His other favorite things are the vintage Matchbox cars and planes. Even I thought they were all pretty cool!
Francesca had a wonderful idea to incorporate the antique store into their family session, which I thought was a great idea! Jack showed me his favorite booths and even talked mom and dad into getting a new G.I. Joe :) After the antique store, we headed out to a park and took advantage of the soft beautiful Colorado sunlight just before the sun went down.
Jack and his dad love to watch “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” and even do the hand movements that Bobby does on his show. It was the cutest thing to watch the two of them show me while saying, “I may win, I may lose, It’s the Ultimate Throwdown!”.
I had an amazing time with all of you and cannot WAIT to see you again. Enjoy the photos and slideshow.

This would be the first time I have ever met little Lucy because it has been about 15 years since I saw Laura. On my next trip to Denver I hope to meet the rest of her children and get the whole family together for a session, but this one was just for Mommy and Lucy. Lucy was ready to go out and have some fun and before I could ask her to take off her shoes so that I could get those little toes in the photos, she sat down and said “I want to take my shoes off”. Perfect. We met at the beautiful St. Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder and then walked to a nearby park. Lucy was full of endless energy and giggles :) At the end of our session, Lucy mentioned that she wanted to pick a flower. We walked back to St. Julian and it was all Lucy could do to JUST sniff the flowers and not pick. “Why can’t I pick them?” she asked.
When we went inside I found some amazing light by the windows and wanted to finish off with a few photos inside St. Julian. Well, what do we see? More flowers right there on the table that we were taking photos next to. So I decided to get one of them out of the vase and let her hold it. The photos of her sniffing the flower was priceless!! Her crinkled up nose made me laugh.
Thank you Laura & Lucy for allowing me to capture a few special moments between you two. I hope to see you all again real soon! I miss Colorado already.

  • Lisa, fabulous photos of Lucy and Laura! You are sooooo talented. Next time you’re in Colorado, give us a holler and we’ll have the Chafins over too for a little get-together. It’s been way too long!

Spring in Colorado can be full of fickle weather. One morning it can snow and then by the afternoon it is sunny and warm. I crossed my fingers for good weather for the few days I was in the Denver area for various shoots. Well thank goodness the finger crossing worked. The days were incredibly beautiful with warmer temperatures. Just as soon as I got back to South Carolina, Jane text me to let me know that it was cold and snowing again…wonderful and perfect timing! Whew.
Brian and Jane wanted to have an engagement session in Colorado at some of their favorite spots since the wedding will be in New Orleans. We started the day off at the Denver Botanical Gardens and then headed out to Red Rocks. We originally had it planned to go to 4 locations, however each location had so many amazing places within itself that we had a very full day going to two. When Jane asked if they could bring their dogs Koda and Kiska, I said “ABSOLUTELY”. So, on our way to Red Rocks we stopped by their house to pick up Koda & Kiska and a change of clothes.
The first location at Red Rocks had a perfectly shaped rock for an awesome background, BUT there were signs saying the area was closed due to rattlesnakes. Brian tried to convince both Jane and I that they weren’t out this time of year, even though we saw a skin of what looked like a very large rattler! Yikes. I had such a great time with you two and I cannot wait for the wedding in New Orleans :)
Please enjoy a handful of images and just below them, a slideshow highlighting the day.

After living in Colorado for a total of 9 years, I feel like it is a second home and one that I miss very much. The Moore’s are moving to Austin, Texas really soon and it was an honor to be able to capture their family in the setting that they love the most, the mountains. Rick has been a long time friend that I knew when I was in the corporate world and this was the first time I have seen him in over 15 years! This was also the first time that I got to meet his awesome wife Diana and their three beautiful children, Grant, Will and Reagan. Their children simply melted my heart with their big blue eyes, smiles and abundant energy!! It was really windy out which made it rather chilly, but everyone was up for the challenge.
We met at Estes Park and went to some of their favorite locations. One spot was very important as Rick kept telling Diana that he had to have Longs Peak in the background of a family photo…it was a must :) No pressure on the photographer right?
I wish I had the entire day to spend with the Moore’s to play and take photos at various locations, there is just not a bad spot out there!
Please enjoy a few of the posted images and a slideshow highlighting the session.

  • I can’t decide what’s more gorgeous – the family or your photos! :) Love the mood, lighting, family, etc. Great job Lisa!

The sun was up but the temperatures were down. In fact, it was down-right cold! We had to stop occasionally to warm cold noses and hands, but Ervin & Katie were troopers toughing out the cold morning. The good thing is that we moved around a lot and even ran a little which warmed us up. Katie wanted to have a country setting for her session and having a barn would be an added bonus. The location was perfect for their day. Katie was smiling and laughing so much and her beautiful smile was captured in many of the photos. Ervin was full of ideas and suggestions and really was so much fun to work with. I even joked and asked if he wanted to assist me on other shoots!

Below are a few images from the session followed by the slideshow. Enjoy.
