When I showed up to Cassy’s condo downtown Greenville, everyone was busy ironing shirts, having makeup done, laughing and kids were playing with their Nintendo DS’s. Pretty normal pre-ceremony commotion. I was about ready to say hello to whom I thought was Cassy and then did a double take. Was it Cassy or her twin sister Adair? They really and truly look alike and have many of the same expressions. Then I heard Cassy say hello from the upstairs loft and that answered my question. It was really cool to hear about what they experience from being twins and really feeling connected on a different level than just sisters. Cassy & the girls were getting ready at her condo and Brett was doing the very same thing just up the street at The Westin Poinsett hotel. Leslie, my second shooter, and I decided to split up for the time being to make sure we could get photos of the getting ready process. Funny how time flies and next thing you know, everyone is scurrying to get out the door and to the church on time. It was soon to be time for Cassy & Brett to say their vows!
Cassy & Brett met at Liberty Taproom & Grill in January of 2008. I love Brett’s pickup line…”So, you like mojitos?” as Cassy is sipping on one at that moment. He then proceeds to say “I have the craziest story. I stopped at the gas station today to get some gum, and I got mojito gum!” Brett pulled a pack of mojito gum out of his pocket and said, “have you ever tried it?”. After Cassy replied that she hadn’t, she then asked if she could try a piece and then Brett asked if he could buy her a drink. The funniest part to me is that he asked if the girl he was with was her sister and then proceeded to ask how old she was. haha!!! Nothing like getting right to the point. But it worked and now they are husband and wife.
Since they met at Liberty Taproom I thought it would be super cool for them to get a picture in front of the sign on their wedding day. It had started to rain, but that didn’t stop us. We grabbed an umbrella and headed that way. The color of the sky that night was intense and made for some brilliant images.
Congrats Brett & Cassy. I am so happy for you both and was very excited to be a part of your big day!! Thank you to Leslie for all your hard & creative work 🙂

You’re engaged…congratulations!!
You’re planning a wedding…OMG
You’re now freaking out…help!

Simple-Guidelines-in-Wedding-Planning

Stop and take a few deep breaths and relax. Your wedding is very important, but if you spend your time stressed and freaked out about every last detail you will lose perspective and everything will become a chore. Remember why you are planning a wedding and I would bet that it is because you and your fiance’ are in love and are ready to make it official. Whether your wedding is small & intimate or large & elaborate, it all takes a mother load of planning and organization. Schedule a ‘planning date’ with your fiance’ and talk about the wedding ideas, theme, guest list, budget, etc. together. This would be a perfect time to see what tasks can be divided or shared. I have really seen an increased interest in the guys wanting to be a part of the wedding planning. I have received several calls setting up the photography consultation from the soon-to-be hubbies. They love having tasks to be in charge of. There will no doubt be moments where you don’t see eye-to-eye on certain things, such as guest list or that dream dress you have always wanted that costs a small fortune. Figure out what the top 3 important things are and budget the most for them (ahem..photography 🙂 ) and then look for ways to cut back on the rest. Get a planning journal. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy even though you can find wedding planning books at Barnes & Noble. This is a perfect way to keep track of everything.

Now I must admit that I am a bit of a technological geek and love that Google has wedding planning tools that are free. Oh and did I say FREE?? Click here to see all that you can do. It pretty much is a one stop shop. You can create a wedding website, share photos & albums, do all your planning & budgeting on Google docs, and even create announcements.

Be sure to take time away from the planning and just enjoy each other. Go for a run or have a fun night out with friends. Remember to laugh. Remember WHY you are doing this. Enjoy!
