I had the pleasure of meeting Kamella & Derek for the first time at Sarah & Collin’s rehearsal dinner. We instantly started chatting and laughing and then when it came time to sit down and eat, I took a short break from taking pictures and sat with them at their table. Silly ‘duh’ moment when I asked them twice when the BIG date was. The second time I asked I realized that they hadn’t gotten officially engaged yet and here was the photographer asking about their date. haha. BUT I could see they had such a beautiful chemistry between them and I could see that they were meant to be. It was really fun being with them on Sarah & Collin’s wedding day as they were in the bridal party. So…as you can see, Derek asked the BIG question and Kamella said ”yes!!”. I am so very excited for them and am honored to be their wedding photographer. This is going to be a great journey with them.
There was a calm amongst the commotion in the suite where Lindsey and her bridesmaids were getting ready. It was a good kind of commotion: Suitcases, shoes, clothes, boxes, bags, snacks and other necessities were strewn about. The music was playing, stories were being told, makeup being applied and a few touchups to hair. The bright pink flamingo straws were catching my eye against the monogrammed button down shirts the bridesmaids were wearing. Basically, it was a room full of excitement and fun. The calm was Lindsey. I asked how she was doing and she said “I’m doing great!” and had a big smile. Now was the time to simply enjoy the day.
As we were setting up the First Look there were a lot of anxious onlookers and some even wanted to tag along. But this moment…is just for Lindsey & Taylor 🙂 However, that doesn’t mean there weren’t a lot of eyes and smiles peeping through the doors and windows. I loved it! This is such a special time for a bride & groom. A time just for them to enjoy each other and share a few words and quiet moments before the day really gets going. There was some worry about the clouds building and a drop of rain here and there. For those that live here in Greenville, you know that we have been having one heck of a rainy year and when it comes…it comes on with a vengeance. The chats with the clouds must have worked because we got all the photos we wanted prior to the ceremony AND the rain stopped just in time for everyone to walk to the reception. whew!
It was so much fun to see all the love and support for the newlyweds from friends & family throughout the day and at the reception. The speeches were priceless and the dancing was entertaining. Thank you to Leslie Kerrigan for all your help too! It was an honor to share this day with you Lindsey & Taylor. I wish you much happiness!!
