Cindy and I met up at a coffee shop in Duncan, SC for a pre-shoot consultation and I was instantly drawn to her positive energy. When Cindy & I were talking details of the session, I asked her what prompted her to schedule a shoot. Her answer has stuck with me since. Why? Because her reason is the exact reason why photographs are so very important. Cindy mentioned that she always wanted to have photos taken with her family but it just never seemed to work out…life got busy and some people just didn’t want to. Since that time she has lost both of her parents and then her husband and really doesn’t have a lot of photographs to look back on. When Cindy had a physical her doctor mentioned that he wanted to put her on medication for health reasons, but she knew that wasn’t the answer. SO, she began to exercise and eat right and now there are no reasons for her doctor to recommend medications because she is healthy and vibrant. Her positive outlook on life and just overall great personality is awesome!! Cindy is so much fun to be around and we laughed over and over again during her session. So when Cindy answered the question of “Why do you want to schedule a session?” she simply replied “Why not?”. I LOVE that!!

Driving on country roads…it was 17 degrees out and the sun was rising. I was on my way to Augusta, Georgia to meet up with the Stoller Family, sipping my coffee and enjoying the scenery. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to wash my windshield while the temps were still in the freezing range. Well it wasn’t. I laughed at myself because being that I grew up in cold country, I should know this right? Once I got the thin layer of ice off my window I began to reflect on just how long it has been since I have known Jennifer and George. On the day of Jennifer’s bridal session, she brought along her dad. Often times the moms will come along, but this time it was dad and I thought it was pretty cool. I put him to work holding the reflector and he soon earned the name “reflector dad”. That is something I will always remember…I will remember how he was watching his little girl in awe while managing to assist on the shoot. SO CUTE!! Well now, Jennifer & George are welcoming their own little girl to the world and I was there to capture her first days. One of the best parts was that little Dean is now comfortable around me and I get hugs and even get to sit and use his plastic tools to build things.
I am not sure that I am able to convey just how awesome it is for me as a photographer to be able to capture BIG milestones in people’s lives. It makes me both smile and get teary…such an honor. So, welcome baby Jillian!!! I cannot wait for our next session to see how you have grown. You have a fabulous big brother by the way!
