2014
“I am feeling a bit awkward at the moment”. Dain said as I got him in place for the first look and gave him a short bit in instruction. “So I stand here?” I replied “Yes, your beautiful bride is on her way”. As I saw Aubrey walk out of the double doors and make her way to tap Dain on the shoulder, I could see that Dain’s smile got bigger and bigger…it made it tough for me not to smile right along with him. That brief moment of feeling a bit awkward is understandable. He has a camera pointed at him while anticipating seeing his bride for the first time and that can feel a bit intimidating, but boy does that fade quickly and the emotions that follow are really pretty awesome. Dain stepped back and took a look at Aubrey and said “WOW!” There is no better response than that!
Going back to the start of the day, I was in the bridal suite with the bridesmaids and just had to ask if they had planned their getting ready outfits because they all looked great. Several girls laughed and they all said “No..that’s what is funny about it. We just all ended up wearing the exact same thing!” One of the girls said “I didn’t get the memo”. LOL!!! Yep, this was a picture perfect moment. Speaking of picture perfect, the fall colors outside were on fire and simply gorgeous. Since we did the first look we were able to take advantage of these beautiful colors in a few different locations. So well worth it!
Everything about Aubrey & Dain’s wedding day was so much fun and filled with such great energy. The entire reception was filled with dancing and laughing and I could tell they were surrounded by many that are excited to see them start their journey together. I wish you both so much happiness. Thank you for having me capture such an important day in your lives…it’s an honor. And a BIG thank you to Katie Turner for all your hard work, creativity and laughs.
Thank you for stopping by!

Going back to Colorado is such an incredible feeling for me. I have lived there twice for a total of 9 years and I must say that I miss the mountains and the friends..BUT I get my fix when I am able to schedule sessions because I reconnect with old friends and even meet some new ones. I saw Laura and Lucy about 5 years ago when we did a mom & daughter session. This time it was the whole family. I haven’t seen Matt in so many years that when he walked around the corner in the lobby of the St. Julien Hotel, I jumped right up to give a huge hug. It’s amazing how so many years can go by yet it seems like we all haven’t skipped a beat. I hadn’t met George & Henry yet, so it was really awesome to get to know them as the session went along. Matt & his oldest son George were waiting at the hotel for mom and the other two kids to show up, so I went ahead and snapped a few of them while we waited. The thing about Boulder and being so close to the mountains, is that the sun sets behind them fairly early this time of year. So when Laura showed up, we did one big hug and I got them in place and ready to go 🙂 I said “we are going to fit an hour and a half into 45 minutes”. haha. I had THE best time with them all!!! The kids were awesome…they could go from a funny shot to a smiling shot to the serious in a nano-second.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the St. Julien Hotel & Spa, be sure to if you live near there or will be visiting Boulder, Colorado in the future. It is a stunning boutique hotel nestled up against the flatirons and just a block off the Pearl Street Mall. A must see!
Thank you Matt, Laura, George, Henry & Lucy. I had a blast! Until next time in Colorado….
Thank you for stopping by!
